What is Gonorrhea?
Gonorrhea, also known as "the clap", is a common sexually transmitted disease caused by bacteria (Neisseria gonorrhoeae). Gonorrhea is transmitted through all forms of sexual intercourse and may often be passed on at the same time as the STD of chlamydia. Alarmingly, according to the Center for Disease Control, it is estimated there are more than 700,000 people infected with gonorrhea annually in America. Though it is curable, if left untreated, it can cause severe complications.
